Teaching music to students has always been a huge passion of mine and developing a love of music is always my top priority. I had a lot of bad habits that developed over years so it will always be my goal to make sure this isn't the case with my students. Playing music should be fun, never too hard or painful. First of all, I am someone who took formal private lessons for drums and flute from 5th grade all the way through college. I have been at School of Rock for about a year, where I am responsible for many individual as well as group lessons. I have taught a wide variety of ages ranging from 5-23, and I am extremely open to adult lessons. Motivation, "keeping it real", and an upbeat attitude have continued to yield personal and academic results in my studio. Read More

Once the basics are grasped I add in level appropriate solo music. As the students progress I move either into the Rubank Method for younger students or the Trevor Wye method for the older students. I also like to utilize duets and other ensemble pieces if I have multiple students. Read More

Regardless of which direction the student wishes to take their musical development, a foundation of classical training is mandatory. I teach classical piano and flute but have opened up the lessons to include pop, rock and jazz on occasion. I am patient yet strict. I temper my expectations of excellence to fit my perception of my student's capabilities. Read More
