I have experience teaching all ages and skill levels including very young first timers up to experienced adults. I graduated from Temple University in 1988, with a Master's of Music degree in the area of Percussion Performance, and Jazz emphasis. During my career at Temple I had the opportunity play with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and at various venues including in New York at Carnegie Hall, as an example. This seems to progress at a very suitable speed, comfortable yet still challenging, and has proved to be quite effective in getting basics down. I teach half hour lessons and instruct the student on good reading habits, how to practice and perform, encouraging them to bring in any supplemental music they are working on at school or on the internet. The importance of practice cannot be over emphasized, nor can the encouragement (nagging!!) Of an interested parent. A student cannot learn an instrument just by coming to lessons.
