I began teaching privately in the greater Milwaukee area in 2012. With my help and motivation, a fifth grader decided to keep his flute and play in his beginning band, despite his families' circumstances. Later, I picked up an interested eighth grader, who eventually received a Gold at regional solo contest and also made the all-state band. I have been working with children since I began working with Bar-T Summer Camps in 2007 at age 13. In my second year at Berklee College of Music, I decided to pursue music education. I have always been fascinated in music instruction. I have taught ages 5-18 in many different music fields like composition, arranging, performance, composition and theory. I believe learning an instrument is a very personalized process, and tailor the materials I use to the skill level and personal goals of each student. For brand new beginners, I typically start with the first Suzuki Flute book, Trevor Wye Beginning book for the Flute, and depending on the individual may begin with some of my own exercises that I write out for the student. For more intermediate to advanced students, I typically like to work out of the Selected Studies and Advanced Rubank books, as some of the more commonly asked audition excerpts for County/State Band typically come from these books.
