I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000 and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. Some of the most meaningful teaching experiences I have had have taught me about the unique relationship we each have with the art of music. Once the student has advanced to where I can see that they have a good grasp of the fundamentals of the instrument, that is typically when I begin to introduce solo repertoire and supplement with my own material.
