Many of my students have gone to play their instruments in college bands throughout the state. Several former students are currently teaching music at the secondary and college level. In 2021, I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with my Bachelor's in Music Education (EC-12). For beginners, I use Rebecca Simonfalvi's called "Potential Contender." It is geared for young children starting out in band. For adults, I generally move between Trevor Wye's "Beginners book for the flute" or the Rubank Elementary Method. If needed, especially with the young, I generally have my students take notes of lessons. I also teach basic theory to give students a deeper understanding of the music. For the advanced student, the focus becomes about fine-tuning fundamentals, and learning repertoire that will propel them forward to the next level. Read More
