I have recently again started playing after many years. I have played in a the pit band at the Count Basie Theater for Jesus Christ Superstar, and Into the Woods for a Wagner College and Brookdale Community College productions. I have been sitting in on local jam sessions with very favorable feedback. I played at a performance at Brookdale Community College with a group, Hot Air. Enjoyment, hearing pitch and rhythm by vocalizing, and developing a register appropriate and flexible embrochure, and using harmonics to tone match are some of the techniques and strategies I would emphasize for flute specific instruction. I like to tailor my teaching for each individual I teach. With more advanced students that already have found the love for their instrument, I focus on strengthening their weak points, be it technique, sound or interpretation. I teach in a very energetic and encouraging way. I don't want you coming into a lesson dreading the fact that you have to play music, I want you coming in excited to show off what you've learned! I find it equally important to be able to hear the notes that one can play on their instrument just like they can see the notes they can play in the process. The student should enjoy practicing.  It is my job to create a lesson plan that allows a student to progress steadily, without straining the limits of their abilities.
