For beginning students, I use the Trevor Wye beginning books and supplement with solos, etudes, songs and exercises that I give them which are appropriate for their level. When I taught Kindermusik to 18 month old children with their parents, it was fun to see how they could copy a rhythmic phrase with their parent or caregiver, it was so sweet. They could reproduce a complicated pattern using "Bab ba's to bond with their parent. From there, I like to use the fundamentals of their instrument and basic music theory concepts as stepping stones to play songs and ideas they want to learn and put in their own playing. I love music and love sharing that with my students. I am classically trained and spent 3 years at Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY and finished my music performance degree at UCF in Florida.
