My work is to honor that space and demonstrate that making music is an option for anyone who wants it, regardless of any perceived “barriers” in place. I am currently learning and researching models of Universal Design for Learning. For all of my students I start by allowing them to sit and feel the kit. Building a strong trusting relationship is important. I then proceed to dive into teaching simple 4/4 grooves to loosen the student up which processes into teaching basic rhythm studies and eventually the concepts of feel, groove, dynamics and of course timing. As session continue I evaluate students knowledge with song learning lessons and with critiques that's being with the positives and lead into where work can be done to improve. Read More

I've been teaching since college, teaching percussion ensembles and private percussion lessons, before eventually branching out into teaching private lessons on all the instruments I know! Since my time as a teacher, I've worked with hundreds of students and have become proud of all the growth I've seen in them.
