For all of my students I start by allowing them to sit and feel the kit. Building a strong trusting relationship is important. I then proceed to dive into teaching simple 4/4 grooves to loosen the student up which processes into teaching basic rhythm studies and eventually the concepts of feel, groove, dynamics and of course timing. I believe that drum has to start with the basics, I used to practice at least one hour a day every day for over 10 years. I still practice on a regular basis with my pads and on my drums. So many drummers you see today are not schooled and its a shame. if you start with a good solid foundation you can be the best there is. All student clients receive artist development training according to their level of skill, I will complete a basic assessment to find out student goals and dreams. I will give students a professional critique of their performance or skill. Together we devise a performance action plan which outlines the students creative journey and desired outcome. if students would like to perform, they will have an option to perform at their desired place.
