Drum Lessons in Yeadon, PA

Instruments: Drums

My teaching experience began in 2001, during an after school program. I facilitated a drum circle and taught lessons to kids from ages 8 to 15 years old. This lead to several parents of the students requesting private drum lessons. I have been teaching privately in student's homes over the last 15 years.  I find that defining the student’s goals, and centering the lesson around those goals keeps the individual inspired to progress forward. In order to ensure the student's success, our first lesson will entail a conversation about what your goals are for the lessons. We will talk about what kind of experience you have and what you're looking to get out of the lessons. This way I will be able to gauge where your skill set/rhythmic competency is, and I will be able to tailor our lessons to your goals and skill sets. Read More

I also like to work on the foundations of syncopation and fundamental interdependence. The final method to start is a book in rock drumming that will serve as a good Segway to other forms of music, whether it be gospel, funk, or jazz. I like to expose students to a variety of styles, but also like to incorporate their interests into the lesson. That could range from music they are interested in, topics they want to study, or breaking down a piece music they like and using it as an exercise. Read More

I make sure that all of my students are getting what they want out of their lessons and the instrument that they are learning in general. My philosophy is that if a student isn't enjoying their lessons then I am not doing my job to the fullest potential. While they are learning the music they love, I make sure that they are gaining knowledge in music theory, as well as improving their technique and repertoire. Read More

As a teacher, my main goal is to see my students succeed and grow as a musician at their own pace. I focus on improvement and progress. I like to challenge my students with new material every week and new techniques. Even though every week we will be learning new things, I help my students grasp the concepts that I teach before we move to the next step. Nothing is more gratifying than seeing students experience the joy of making music and playing. Read More
