I'm a teacher and student at heart. I believe that at any level of learning support and encouragement are always better than just do it because I say so. This is the reason I left a scholarship from Berklee in the 90's to pursue my true passion; touring the world as a professional musician. I have seen a slice of life in my musical travels with the hundreds of artists I have worked with and I bring over 2 decades of experiences to every lesson, with every student, every time and I look forward to meeting new students who want to take the journey with me.. My teaching method is relatively simple, but is somewhat backwards from how most people teach music. I start with teaching the student a song, at his/her level, by listening to the record and by my example. After that I like to go back and give written out exercises and notes on what we did in the song. Often times a student will get a technical exercises and begin to get frustrated with it because they can't see why they're learning it. Read More

For beginning students who aren't quite sure what path they'd like to take in drumming, I like to start by teaching out of Joel Rothman's Basic Drumming, which will help build a solid foundation of the fundamentals that will be essential for being any style of drumming. But my ultimate goal is to let you guide your own journey, and we can focus on diving deeper into more advanced exercises, fine-tuning your technique, improving your pocket, time, and feel, learning to play your favorite songs and why the drums make them so good, composing your own parts, songs, or solos, and truly any aspects of your drumming you'd like to improve! My teaching style is supportive. I like to help teach a student how to practice as well as how to play. My fondest memories as a student were those where I was learning and listening to music with my teacher. Watching them react and feel the beats is an incredibly informative part of the learning experience. Learning of to digest material and make it feel musical and fun for the student is a huge goal that I have as a teacher. Read More

My aim is to motivate, inspire, challenge and empower you to become the best version of yourself. I firmly believe that the best way to get the best out of the lessons is to communicate and be open to listening to what each other have to say. More importantly, I feel its the responsibility of the instructor to listen to the student, their goals, needs, dreams and help them get there through whichever method necessary. Read More

I truly believe that all learning, while serious in nature, should be fun and exciting in methodology. Living in the age of technology, there are so many ways to make learning fun and interesting for students. Whether it be sharing information from Youtube, educational sites such as The Teaching Channel, using digital music apps such as "Smart Music" for assessment, showing a student how to record themselves on their smartphones, all of these things can be brought in to the instructional experience.
