The following are books that I start my lessons with. In addition, I supplement with materials that my students are interested in learning. If there is a particular song or style that they would like to learn(and is reasonably within their ability level or I am able to modify), I work to teach it to them. Drums: ***The book chosen depends on a student's level and personal goals, but these are great books to start with: Drumset For Preschoolers by Andy Ziker(for students ages 2-6, or students that would benefit from a color-coded system initially) The Drumset Musician By Rod Morgenstein and Rick Mattingly(great for beginning drum beats!) Alfred's Drum Method(for learning rhythms and rudiments) A Fresh Approach to the Drumset by Mark Wessels with Stanton Moore(teaches an intro to a variety of styles, including rock, samba, jazz, etc.) Piano: Alfred's All-in-One Course This book has simple, child-centered lessons that are reasonably paced, teaches beginning music theory, and allows students the opportunity to write. I like to teach the way I learned how to play the drums. We will cover everything. How to get good hand control and techniques. Read music. Learn how to play with music! That's the most important as a drummer. Grooves. FillIs. I like to teach with books but also with songs. It's all about having fun! The one thing I feel that a lot of teachers don't teach is how to practice. Read More

My teaching style is geared mainly towards going over fundamentals while finding the students interest in music. I encourage my students to listen to as much music as possible, to explore and find what they really enjoy. Playing along to music,or learning songs the student enjoys is a great way to apply the fundamentals, and make them more enjoyable to master. Read More

Each student is unique in the way they learn and progress. I come in to each new lesson trying to learn what works best for each student, as well as what each student is trying to gain from the lessons. For example a very young student may just need exposure to the world of music in a very fun learing atmosphere, while an older or more advanced student may want more a more intense lesson. Read More

My first student (back in 2004 ) was a friend and we started lessons....for fun! This fun became a way of living and one of the things that i really love to do. In 2005-2006 i started giving private lessons at first in teenagers or people around 20-25 years old. That was easy because most of the people over 20's the know what they want.So i wanted to try with much younger and much older....and i thing it went pretty much well! Read More

From the first lesson on, we will work on proper hand technique and body mechanics so that you can build strength/endurance/speed and avoid injury. I will open your ears to all the different sounds the drums and cymabals can make. We will explore great books, songs, and videos from amazing dummers and if you have a piece of music you want to learn, I will help with that as well. Read More

For beginner students I like to keep to the fundamental elements of Jazz and Rock grooves while focusing on various time signatures. Another key practice we will always be refining on are the rudiments. This will keep those chops sharp for direct accuracy and speed. For my more advanced students I conduct a learning program based off the students interests in styles and advancements, doing so keeps the student engaged in the lessons with room to grow. Read More
