I have been teaching drums and playing gigs since 1993. I've taught close to 20,000 drum lessons to hundreds of students. I've played on national tv, toured with several signed bands, endorsed drum and cymbal companies, and have been featured in video games. I've studied with the greatest drummers in the world while at Berklee College Of Music. Mike Mangini, Dave Elitch, Kenwood Dennard, Dave Dicenso, Gary Chaffee and others have given me the material I pass on to my students, while customizing every lesson for what my students need to learn that particular week. My first emphasis is that you have to like what you're playing. I really try to focus on what music gets the student excited. For some of them, it comes quickly. Others it might take a while, and that is okay. Once I find the switch that engages the student's interest, that is my focus. I really emphasize getting students to read music and also understand the key components of music theory, so that they understand what it is they are playing. Read More

I am a hardworking and fun-loving teacher who loves to push students to reach boundaries they never thought possible! I recently graduated Musicians Institute Hollywood in 2018 with an Associate of Arts degree in Drum Performance. I have been performing with my band Rowdy Clast around Hollywood at local clubs trying to get recognized in the music industry. I hope to pass on some of my knowledge as a performing drummer to my students! Read More

For beginning students who are young, I usually start with just a snare drum. Learning stick holding and striking technique, and then move onto adding pieces of the drumset to play on. From there, I go onto introducing learning note values, and drum music reading. For adults, I may start the same way, but also discuss what they would like to focus on. I really like to imply the fundamentals of contemporary music, and what is typically used on well known recordings. Read More

For the majority of students, I have several books that I use to zero in on what level of proficiency they currently hold and then I begin to adapt from there. For beginning or younger students, I use several books that focus of basic techniques that are effective for any style of music; I use books such as Collin Bailey's Bass Drum Techniques and Mitchell Peters and Stick Control for snare drum and genral techniques.
