I love teaching and sharing the joy of music with others! In 2011, I graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor's in Percussion Performance. I've performed all over the world on cruise ships and touring with artists. I've played in numerous bands in the Los Angeles area of all genres. I began teaching after graduating high school and have continued to do so ever since. During these years I attended college at California State University Chico, where I earned my Bachelor's degree as an audio engineer. This journey greatly helped me grow as a musician, teacher, leader, and engineer. Through out my college years I continued to play in bands both through my school and locally in our community, started my own business to help local musicians gain recognition and improve their skills, gained a new appreciation for musicianship and creativity through the eyes of an audio engineer, and of course taught my students to improve their musical abilities. From there, I get them to start incorporating some fills. I try to find out what kinds of music the student likes, and continue teaching them a few more grooves and fills and some other simple songs going off of that. I also start explaining subdivisions some more at this point. From there, I typically start to get into some rudiments and basic exercises. Often, I find I end up introducing some simple ones much earlier to help students over a hump in learning a groove or a fill. Read More
