During the first lesson I always assess where the student is the learning timeline with their instrument. I also find out what the student's goals are with music. Once this has been established we work on a plan of action to acheive those goals. Since the vast majority of drum students are primarily interested in learning drumset skills, we will start working on this from the very first lesson. I tend to break drumset studies into these general groups: skills and technique, independence and coordination, groove studies, and reading. Read More

For the begginer I like to start by exploring and accessing their ability to do anything musical in the drumset while showing them some very basic and familiar drum beats. Shortly after I introduce them to the foundations and building blocks of drum playing through visual, auditive cues as well as introducing music theory knowledge. Music reading is one of the most important skill to learn as you progress. Drum Books will be used for the classes For intermediate and Advance , I also make an accessment to find out where they are in terms of drum technique, drum culture, all the music styles that they are familiar as well as unfamiliar with. I am a hardworking and fun-loving teacher who loves to push students to reach boundaries they never thought possible! I recently graduated Musicians Institute Hollywood in 2018 with an Associate of Arts degree in Drum Performance. I have been performing with my band Rowdy Clast around Hollywood at local clubs trying to get recognized in the music industry. I hope to pass on some of my knowledge as a performing drummer to my students! Read More

I believe that motivation begins with excitement and there is no better way to help a student stick to a practice routine than teaching him or her to play their favorite songs. Of course, a knowledge of music theory is very important, but I always make sure that we don't get bogged down in minutia, and that each student is allowed to proceed at his or her own pace. A practical and usable knowledge of music's fundamentals is employed to get results and keep the student motivated and actively learning. Read More

As the musical director for my college A Cappella group, there was an element of vocal teaching for new and existing members. We learned new song arrangements as a group, rather than assigning parts and having singers learn at home. Conversely, they taught me! It was a great collaboration. Most recently, I have taught private and large group lessons for elementary grade students (TK-5th) in the areas of ukulele, drum set, bucket drumming, hand drumming, and rock band. Read More

I have taught for over twenty years to all ages and levels. I teach the fun way by teaching the student what they would like to know by tailoring each lesson to fit there personal goals, needs and questions. I've taught all genres and also teach special needs including autistic, handicapped, and blind. As well I've also taught a couple grammy winning musicians. I encourage good effective practice methods instead of long tedious hours I prefer the student to concentrate on quality above quantity. Read More

The most important goal to me when teaching anyone of any level is to have them leave feeling like they've actually learned something. I feel as a teacher that the students wants and needs are paramount and should be treated as such. I like to work with whatever pace they're comfortable with and do my best to accommodate them with what they may want out of drumming. I like a laid back, welcome atmosphere with absolutely no judgement in said atmosphere and always be supportive of the student making progress in their endeavors. Read More
