I am a versatile and engaging musician with 14 years of experience performing and composing in a wide variety of genres: Jazz, rock, hip-hop, folk, classical, electronic, electroacoustic, avant garde, ambient, soul, punk, etc. This is a resource that has proven to be invaluable in teaching students with a wide range of interest to help them develop both in technique and in finding their own voice on their instrument. Hello future students! I much enjoy sharing my experience as a creative musician to my students whether they are 5 or 55, beginner or advanced. I am a patient teacher and do my best to encourage each student to find themselves as unique learners (musicians) unto themselves. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2002 with a BA focus on Music Composition. While recently living in NYC, I formed a 12-member saxophone orchestra, composed and recorded two symphonies, performed and recorded with the late Glenn Branca's 100 Guitar Ensemble, and provided live Sound Design for renowned poetess Anne Carson. My goal with teaching is to get people on a regular routine of practicing their instrument and help people find what they like in efforts to help them pursue it later in life while having fun in the process. I emphasize, above all, practice. If a student doesn't practice daily, then they aren't going to improve at their full potentail rate. I would never "push" a student, but I do encourage students to strive for their best. I know when I need to adapt the situation to fit a student's specific needs. If a student isn't getting something, I know exactly how to back up, break it down, and explain it in a way that they will understand. Read More

One of things I that I find discouraging is when teachers stick with one method. Every student is different! As a result, my method of teaching very much depends on the student. If I have a student who is struggling with fundamentals, then we will focus on fundamentals. If I have a student who is struggling with articulations, then we will focus on articulations in lessons.
