I approach teaching as a purely collaborative endeavor. In initially meeting a student, I ask many questions in order to gage what has inspired the student to study drums, and what particular genres of music and/or artists have brought them to the point of lesson inquiry. I have variety of experience in performance while I was in college and also recording session. As to teaching experience, I started teaching 5 years ago, I had been working as private instructor for almost 2 years before I go to college. I have had 5 students, ages were in the range of 11 to 21. My goal for teaching for beginner students was to always keep engaging.     I have now been giving private lessons for around 8 years and enjoy it very much. I love to help people grow and watch them enjoy the gift they have. In my lessons, students learn techniques, concepts, musicianship, rudiments/fundamentals, and much more. I resigned from a job in 2015 to pursue my music career which includes teaching drums. My teaching experience dates back to high school when I began teaching privately. One of my main focuses is the idea of making music. Not just playing drums and making noise, but making beautiful music. Drums is one of the most versatile instruments and I think its very important to explore and learn about its history in terms of all genres. There is so much to learn from exploring new genres we may not typically be attracted to, and I emphasize that to my students as I truly believe being a well-rounded musician is one of the most important skills we can have. I create custom lesson plans for all my students, integrating their interests, strengths and weaknesses into a cohesive, dynamic education schedule. I incorporate a variety of different lesson books to ensure musical reading while encouraging consistent exercises in using our musical ear. I use modern music to inspire students to learn the songs they like. I also promote songwriting and other creative outlets to inspire students to find their own musical voice. Read More
