For students who are young children, I typically start by addressing the importance of playing what you hear. So, I will teach them beginner classics, such as Twinkle Twinkle and Merry had a Littl eLamb, but I also teach them what thunder sounds like, or a siren, and etc. by drawing on everyday life obejects that create noise. I then move on to learn my student's interests to device a method of positive reinforcement if they complete their homework asssignments or answer questions correctly, usually in the past this has been candy. I became a professional musician at the age of 16. I've traveled around the world and parts of the US. I started playing Rock and Roll music until I was 25. At that time I decided to get a formal music training with piano and theory. I auditioned and received scholarships in music to Seminole Community College and University of Central Florida. I began learning how to play in middle school, when I was about 13 years old. Guitar Hero Rock Band became very popular, and it sparked my interest in playing an instrument. I attended a few lessons, but grew disheartened as I didn't grasp some of the fundamentals of playing.
