I like to see where the student is at level wise and take it from there. Example : if the student has never played before, we will start with how to hold the sticks. If there at level three but haven't touched 16th note triplets and go from there. Since I was genuinely passionate about it, I had no problem working through hours of tedious practice to learn the skills I have today. I can still lose track of time while practicing.
