I have been studying drums for well over 17 years! I love playing, learning, and teaching drums. It's all I ever think about. I began studying Jazz drumming throughout high school, and have performed, toured, and recorded with many bands since. I have become locally acclaimed with my affiliation for local Utah music festivals such as Desert Rocks Music Festival, Powellpalooza, Uncle Uncanny's Summer Sessions, and Psych Lake City. My teaching experience started when I became a choir Director in my church in 2000,I love to teach different harmonies for different vocal ranges plus I will teach them with the solfa notations which is the music notes.i remember some of the choristers where tone deaf but I always love to take it slow and steady with them eventually they all got better and I was fulfilled.its always fun and conducive in my classes because I always make it look easy and not stressful.i always tell my students that the only way you can be better is daily practice and dedication. Seeing my students perform a recital and learn other concepts on drums was a rewarding experience for me. It was the greatest gift of all sort of speak. My style includes but not limited to teaching from method books then moving to songs or a combination of both. I try to tailor my lessons to what the student wants to achieve and learn, such as a particular style. For more complex rhythm Louie Bellssons Modern Reading is an excellent supplement. For drumset the above texts also work but the best solution is the Rhythm Concept by Kelly Wallis, a fantastic method of deconstructing rhythm. There are many traditional style texts along with a host of audioplay along style texts that I am comfortable teaching from.
