Drum Lessons in Helmetta, NJ

Instruments: Drums

I love to see all my students develop a passion for drumming and music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and by teaching them the songs they love the most. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I have been teaching drums for 3 years and have found that teaching book work, but keeping it light and fun is a great way to keep students engaged and motivated. If the student isn't having fun then I am not doing my job. I both play and teach many different styles and can give advice on drum kits and cymbals, sticks, tuning and more. We will go over things like technique, rudiments etc while also learning songs, melody and song structure. Read More

I enjoy hearing the students natural abilities, understanding what kind of music pours out of them, acknowledge that, and from there we develop it. At the same time, direct the student with technique, theory and any other tools that will facilitate the music they are passionate about. Give the students homework, let them know that there is always another step, to lead by example!  As a trumpet player it is very important to establish a healthy routine that will build your tone, endurance that in the end you understand enough so you can teach and always evaluate yourself. My passion for teaching comes from two main sources: First of all, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a student progress, enjoy what he's doing and sound better every single lesson! My love for teaching also comes from the fact that I learn so much from this process! Every student gives me a new perspective on the drums and sets new challenges to tackle, which makes this such an invigorating experience! Read More

I am a 33 year old New York based professional drummer from Rome (Italy). I have been involved in music from a very early age, thanks to my father who sings and plays guitar, bass, piano, harmonica and drums. Music for me is a pure passion that became my job. As a teacher I try to pass that passion on to my students, helping them to find their own love of music, to have fun and eventually to do it professionally. Read More

I've learned through experience that being too strict can contribute to a student loosing interest in practicing, so my teaching style is in the sweet spot. I push my students to always improve but I still remain patient and adaptable to different student situations. I'm always supportive and excited for my students as they grow and find their own performances and build a strong repertoire. A students happiness and success is most important to me so I'll always be a friend and make sure they're doing alright so that they can overcome obstacles and so that we can work around problems together!
