We then go into various techniques and develop song repetoire and chording and strumming styles. For beginning piano I start with level one Hal Leonard book for beg. piano and various beginning classical composers: Beethoven, Mozart, Tchakovisky, Jazz, etc. . I do not have formal homework for students under 8. For students 10 years old and older I have a strict policy of teaching Music Theory including basic scales, rhythms, notation and triads. Drum tabs and beat charts are also covered; but my goal is create a well rounded musician which many drummers are not. i've been playing drums for 17 years. I am originally from New York where I worked as a drummer, educator, and then a professional in the music products industry. I graduated from Five Towns in 2009 with a bachelors degree in Jazz Commercial Music. Durning my time in college I expanded my musical palette adding swing, Latin, concert mallet percussion, drumline, and afro-cuban.
