I'm a passionate and experienced musician with a love of teaching. I have been playing drums for over 15 years. My musicianship began in the 5th grade and has continued throughout my time in high school marching band at Troy High School, where I was in the drumline for all four years. I have participated in worship bands at several local churches in Orange County and Redondo Beach, and have developed my skills both as a drummer, bass player, and audio technician during my decade and a half of experience as a church drummer. For beginning drums students, I typically star with a simple beat that the student feels good about. From then, we start learning important concepts as dynamics, tempo, intensity, groove,... Once the student has a grasp of the fundamentals, we can take a look into learning specific songs that he/she likes, reading, new styles/approcahes, preparation for a recording, composition,... Always keeping the lessons motiviating and fun, no matter the level. Read More

I started teaching at an early age of 18, having always been someone adept at explaining difficult things to understand very easily, i quickly grew to becoming the Assistant director of Music at a school by helping out with forming curriculum, building custom lesson plans for different students. I would then go on to teach at various different schools, both private and public through non profts to share my methods and to ensure students get the right education through fun ways. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to middle school. I didn't get paid for it but I would teach the drummers their part the ensembles and performances in the orchestra and jazz band. That way the teacher could focus on instructing the other students the different instruments. I started booking regular paid gigs after college. I would perform shows and people would ask for lessons after the gig, networking is a big part of the professional side of playing music I encourage listening to all styles of music. Read More

I like to first get a feel for the students abilities and asses how to teach them by breaking things down to their bare essentials before suggesting a good book to go through and the right exercises. I find that most young students or beginners need to see some form of result to stay engaged so I try and get them moving with sticks on a pad or even learning a basic drum beat within the first two lessons. In my teaching I make sure that my students never feel overwhelmed or confused by the material. I give them reasonable assignments based on their skill level and make sure to give them reasons for everything they are doing. I always try to help my students achieve little accomplishments in every lesson. I find this helps to prevent students from becoming discouraged or disengaged. I am always adjusting my lessons to fit the personality of the student I am working with. Read More
