I'm a driven instructor who absolutely loves working with new students and sharing my passion of music. In May 2017 I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Professional Music (Drum Set Performance Music Production). Since relocating to Boston from Scotland I have been given the opportunity to perform and tour all of across Europe and Northern America with some talented up coming artists, ranging from touring the West Coast with alt/rock artist Chloe Jane to touring the United Kingdom with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland. Since, I have played for multiple different artists, on multiple major record labels. I have also worked with some of the world's leading producers, the men behind songs you hear every day on the radio, as a studio drummer and/or bass player. Artists ranging from Aly AJ on Disney Channel to spaced-out mixed symphonic electronica with Paul Oakenfold, the English DJ legend. Though my time so far in LA, I have had the chance to aquaint myself with many other backing band musicians, for other artists or shows, from lead-guitarist Rafael Moreira (NBC The Voice, Pink, Christina Aguilera) and the guys gigging with Chris Cornell, to the younger rhythm section for Macy Gray. Evan has also done session work as a drummer-for-hire with independent rock bands, most recently on Sub:Om’s Back to the Source. When Evan's not drumming, he's composing. He's created music and mixed sound for independent film and new media, and recently won a Best Sound Design award for his work on indie feature The Good Hearts Club. For beginner students of drums and piano, we start with the basics. That includes, grasping a solid understanding of common musical terms, and applying them to properly learn to read and play songs. Once a student has a solid grasp of basic music theory, I will begin to challenge them and push them to new heights with new standards, and more challenging pieces to play. When a student has truly become adept, I love to look toward competitions and festivals that will give students that extra push that helps them build motor skills and self-discipline that will be of use in all areas of life. I try to adapt my teaching style to however I see the student (or peer) is most effective in learning. Some people are more chart based, and like the bars written out in time so they can follow it in a more technical manner. Some have a hard time reading music, so they go off of feel.
