I always like to bring a student's assignment/exercise into musical context. That way, the student always knows why they are being challenged with the assignment, and that it pertains to music that is being made in the real music world. It always has to be fun, and contain a level of challenge, to keep the students mind growing, along with their overall growing ability to learn another language; music! Read More

I am extremely motivated to see my students enjoy their musical journey and have then develop their own passion for music. This usually requires setting goals that my students can reach with adequate practice, and constantly encouraging them throughout lessons. I believe that when students are given the right encouragement and acknowledgement they are more likely to succeed and have even more drive to learn. Too often I have encountered teachers that are extremely harsh in their teaching, but I do not think this really brews learning at a young age. Read More

Seeing people pick up an instrument and learning to create music has always been really cool. I learned to play the drums at age 11, and after taking piano classes in high school, I went to Cal Poly Pomona to study music composition. It was during this time that I began providing lessons in both instruments to students of all ages. The best part for me is always that moment when it clicks with the student. Read More
