My teaching experience began back when I was a junior in college. I started working with 2 high schools in the Daytona Beach area in the marching arts as well as private lessons. Upon moving back home in the metro Atlanta area after graduating, I began doing various clinics for high schools in the Dekalb and Fulton county areas in preparation for the schools spring concert band festival. My methods to teaching beginners piano is very logical in that it the fundamentals I teach build upon each other. You can think of if like a pyramid. On the bottom of the pyramid we start with the notes of the piano. By the end of lesson one it is my goal for the student to know the name of every single note on the 88-key piano/keyboard. Reading is my main way of getting things into perspective. I originally learned by ear, it paid off for live situation but, reading is where I found the most connection.
