I've been teaching guitar for the past 12 years, and more recently bass, ukulele, piano/keys, voice, percussion and studio recording as well. I have taught students ranging from child to adult, as well as working for two years as a caretaker with mentally challenged and special needs individuals. Being a teacher involves much more than just following curriculum out of a book. Each student has their unique way of absorbing information, and we should always remain sensitive to that. Read More

I started teaching drums in San Francisco in 1995. I teach all levels from beginner to professional in all styles including double bass drums. My specialty is jazz which includes boogie woogie, swing, big band, bebop, cool jazz, avant garde, fusion, afro-cuban, and salsa. I can teach basically any style you are interested in if you show me exactly the song or genre you are working on. We can perfect your fundamentals or take you to the next level of improvisation. I feel that I can develop a great rapport with students, and am able to relate to their musical interests no matter what their preferred style(s). Due to the extensive and varied experience I have gained, I am able to develop exercises and choose materials that are relevant to each individual student's needs and goals. My greatest reward is seeing my students gain confidence and the passion for making music that I have known throughout my life. Read More

I encourage and explain aspects of music theory in addition to playing techniques in lessons. I like to find out what kind of music my students really enjoy and I integrate that into my lessons. Seeing my students succeed is a very rewarding experience and I tailor my lessons to ensure that sense of progress and accomplishment is developed every week. Read More

I have been teaching privately since 2010, when I accepted a position as a teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University. My responsibilities included teaching private lessons to undergraduate percussion majors and coaching percussion ensembles. I also began teaching students from middle school through high school age around the same time, and my students have since included those of adult age. I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels of experience, as they all bring something unique to their lessons and allow me to bring out aspects of my personality that will engage them best. I began teaching in 1999 and have maintained a private studio since then while also working for various music schools and after-school music programs. I've worked with students from ages 5 to 75 and have found that students are very receptive to my energetic and engaging personality while being reassured by my ease of communication and patience. Music should be fun and enjoyable, not stressful, and I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere that is supportive and encouraging. Read More
