My teaching style is very simple. We will begin by finding the interests of the student. Then we’ll identify what they like about the instrument and their basic knowledge. Once that is done, we’ll begin experimenting with different generes. And finally, we’ll create a plan that will allow them the chance to grow musically and fundamentally on the drums. It really depends on needs and desires of student!  I create custom lesson plans for each student depending on their current ability level, age, and future goals. For drums -topics include: various Snare books to teach students sight reading basics while focusing on technique, transcriptions of drum grooves and solos, learning and playing along to recordings, etc.  For Piano, I combine a traditional note reading approach/music theory with the "by ear" Suzuki Method. I have played in venues from small coffee houses to The Paramount in Huntington, NY.  I have played in many groups and ensembles as a premier performer and, of course, as part of the "tutti".  I have studied under Micheal Bellajonas at Suffolk County Community College and Jerry Willard at Stony Brook University in my classical guitar studies.  I maintain a violin/guitar duet with my wife, who is on her way to becoming a music educator.  I've taught all different types of students and am very open and patient to everyone's needs. Parents will recieve a professional audio recoding of each lesson so they can hear what their child is working on. We offer recitals every month so student can showcase their talents to family and friends. This is crucial for students to perform so they can understand and feel the satisaction of performing music. For students who are just starting out, especially children or teenagers, I like to start with the building blocks of playing the Snare Drum to ensure they create good habits while approaching any song or solo. My band director from school always use to say “If you can play it on the snare drum, you can play it on the drumset.” For older students, teenagers to adults, I like to grasp the students interests and aid them in the direction they want to excel in. My path as an educator began during my time studying history and philosphy in New Orleans, LA. I was playing live music almost six nights a week, and started helping out as an assistent at Tipitina's Sunday Workshop for young musicians. There I helped and watched the great Johnny Vidacovich teach young aspiring musicians the art of playing in an ensemble. While at Berklee College of Music I have helped teach in classrooms and clinics alongside many of the world's greatest musicians, including John Patitucci, Steve Bailey, Joanne Brackeen, Vadim Neselovsky, Carol Robbins, and Alain Mallet.
