My method varies for each student since every student will learn differently. I started teaching drums in San Francisco in 1995. I teach all levels from beginner to professional in all styles including double bass drums. My specialty is jazz which includes boogie woogie, swing, big band, bebop, cool jazz, avant garde, fusion, afro-cuban, and salsa. I can teach basically any style you are interested in if you show me exactly the song or genre you are working on. We can perfect your fundamentals or take you to the next level of improvisation. My interest in a variety of musical styles has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of great musicians from different backgrounds. It has also opened my eyes to a variety of ways of thinking about music. I received a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Bowling Green State University in 2012. I've performed recently with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra as a section percussionist, and I frequently play drum set with a band that plays for corporate events, private parties, and concert series. I feel that I can develop a great rapport with students, and am able to relate to their musical interests no matter what their preferred style(s).
