I've been playing the clarinet for over 20 plus years from middle school through college. I've performed in various concert bands, jazz bands, pep bands and chamber groups while in school. My teaching style is very much praxial and based off of skill reinforcement. For any instrument, I will incorporate the Kodaly method (solfege) of musicianship into the curriculum. For me, my goal is to teach the student how to learn for themselves. I focus on practice techniques, assessment of tone, sound, rhythms, pitches, etc. Rather than spoon feed all of the answers to the students, I wish to encourage each musician to develop their own critical mind towards the art that they create. I taught myself how to play the clarinet when I was 13 years old. In high school, I was accepted in to the California All State Honor Band my junior and senior years (2007, 2008). The experiences I had powerful and emotional impact on me, and it was then that I decided to dedicate a life to music through my clarinet.
