Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet

Originally from Croton On Hudson, NY, I am a lover of all the aspects of music! I was the Valedictorian of the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in 2013, and I also attended Manhattan School of Music for two years prior. Music is my life, and I am a passionate performer and teacher. I have had much experience performing, recording and teaching in the the NYC/Hudson Valley areas for over 5 years. Read More

Instruments: Clarinet

My methods vary by age group and skill level. I generally use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for students new to the clarinet then progress to Baermann Scale Studies as well as several different methods depending on the student's ability. In addition to etudes, solo repertoire is introduced, also based on the student's ability. Outside of playing the instrument, my lessons include reed fixing and balancing, practice techniques, performance anxiety reduction techniques, and for more advanced students, audition techniques. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder

I have enjoyed teaching since High School, when I traveled to teach students by bus. Later I traveled by car to homes to teach, but have only taught in my studio for over 20 years. I find that the lessons are better where I have all of my wealth of music. I try to relate to each student personally, so they feel comfortable, and enjoy their lessons. Some students will respond to certain methods, while others need to be taught differently. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet

For beginning students who are children, I normally start on Accent on Achievement, Standard Of Excellence, or if they are learning music in school and continuing their studies privately, I begin with any book that they start on in school. Once they have a solid foundation I will have them learn how to play ear, technique books such as Rubank, and etude books and also music that they will find exciting and fun to play. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Music

Joey R. is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist and educator from Riverwoods, IL. He found his love for music at the age of nine while hearing John Coltranes monumental solo on Giant Steps. It was in this moment that Joey began his lifelong journey in sound. Joeys years in school were fruitful; he shared the stage with Patti Austin, Shelly Berg, Gloria Estefan, Alan Ferber, Quincy Jones, Brian Lynch, Barry Manilow, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Charlie Watts, and John Williams. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder

I typically start beginner students on the Rubank Elementary Method books for saxophone, clarinet, or flute. These books are a great way to introduce the basic mechanics of the instrument, as well as reading music. I generally like to branch out from the method books as soon as possible, by supplementing the basic reading with other technical studies and pieces. For adults and more advanced students, I like to steer the focus more in the direction of what they want to learn, while still teaching the proper fundamentals of the instrument! Read More

Noah D

Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I have been teaching music lessons, both on a freelance basis and at the Laconia Music Center, since graduating college in the Spring of 2009. I have also been playing woodwind instruments in a professional capacity since that time. My work as a performer informs my work as an educator and vice-versa. I am afforded the great luxury of musical dynamism by living in New York City, and I am as comfortable in a jazz club as I am reading classical music, or in the horn section of a funk band.
