I encourage my students to practice at least an hour a day, this can be done in ten minute intervals or whatever amount of time the student can maintain focus. For beginners, either children or adults, I like to begin by teaching you to play an easy song that is recognizable so that you are excited and engaged in your instrument right away. From there we dive in to a beginning instructional book that teaches you the theory of what you are actually playing. Then we take those concepts and expand in to more difficult music, polish your skills, and have a blast during the entire process. Read More

My teaching style is interactive and utilizes positive reinforcement to achieve the desired results. I demonstrate often, and I also ask the student to play back to me what I demonstrate. This is particularly helpful with online lessons, as the lag time makes it impossible to play together as we would in person.
