For beginning students I prefer Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, but also work with any method book a student uses in their band class. Once a good foundation is established, I like to move into solo and ensemble repertoire to develop lyricism and expression. I am a recent VCUarts Music graduate. My concentration was jazz saxophone. I have been playing saxophone for over 20 years, but the last four years have been intense, as I was working diligently to complete my music degree.
