It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13. It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps. My starting point for my students is typically having them practice posture, hand position and proper mouthpiece placement. After this has been satisfied, I have the students blow using a breathing exercise. From this, I have the students play the first three notes out of their Habits of Good Musician Book 1. I graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia in May 2017 with two Bachelors degrees in music education and flute performance. In my time there, I completed secondary band methods, elementary band methods, elementary general music methods, as well as my student teaching at Morrow Elementary (band and general music) and Reed Middle Schools (band and general music) in the Central Islip School District on Long Island.
