I am a passionate, self-motivated, energetic music instructor who loves work with students and sharing my love of music. In 2016, I graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Industry and minored in Music Education. Within those studies, my primary instrument of focus was the trombone, however, along the way, I picked up and worked on different types of instruments, such as the flute, all of the low brass, piano, and my vocal ability. I also push my students in each lesson and require regular practice. If it is evident that a student is not, it will be addressed and alternative ways to motivate the student will be attempted. Born and raised in Annapolis, I took advantage of many programs, competitions and ensembles in the area. As a teacher, I look forward to ushering my students towards these same opportunities to show them how much fun music can be. Read More

My passion for sharing knowledge begin during my time as high school tuba section leader, which led to Senior band president. Assisting my peers so we could sound better via musical corrections, this would build our confidence levels and the moral throughout the ensemble. I furthered my passion for music at Berklee College of Music, where I studied various aspects, methods, and approaches to educating someone about the art of music. Read More

I love seeing students realize their own progress. I always like to start with recording a first attempt and then recording it again once it has been mastered so they can see their progress. I focus on positive reinforcement teaching. It is very easy, especially for a new student, to get bogged down in not making progress fast enough so I like to make sure they see all the steps they're taking and also know where it will lead them. My teaching experience started when I was in Highschool , and this has carried on throughout college and after college. I tutored my peers while still learning other instruments simultaneously. I have had the opportunity to teach at a number of elementary, middle and high schools in the atlanta and atlanta metro school districts. I have also had a number of opportunities working with adult choirs as well as community choirs and bands. Read More

I have taught music for the past three years (mostly in home lessons). Jazz is a very important component to my lesson plan, because I want all of my students to understand the concept of improvisation. Improvisation makes students excited to see that music goes beyond what is on the sheet of paper. If a student is not having a good time making music, I am not doing my job correctly. Read More

For students of all ages, I like to lead with the quote from Marcel Moyse; "Practicing is a matter a time, patience and intelligent work", for I believe that once this is applied to the idea of practicing and general encounters with ones instrument, then success and progress is guaranteed. Aside from that principle, I like the idea of independent work from students to keep them accountable on the journey to becoming a musician but a more interactive and demonstrative approach during the lesson to give students an idea of what needs to be done while being that good role model so that they may keep motivated work hard at becoming the best possible musicians.
