My lessons are structured with attention paid to the fundamentals of each instrument and the fundamentals of music. I have learned that when a student practices a mistake over and over it remains a mistake. I immediately slow the student down and concentrate on just a measure or even two notes to accomplish correct rhythm, fingerings, articulations and phrasing. When the student can successfully play a passage correctly then the work turns into fun music making. Read More

Music is my passion and I'm here to help bring that passion and enjoyment of music to your life. I'm a hard working and dedicated teacher and performer. I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in music education k-12 certification. I first moved to Colorado in 2007 when I was hired to perform in Grand Lake Colorado at Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre as their multiple woodwind performer in the orchestra. Read More

My method is altered depending on the student's age, skill level, and ultimate goals. For beginners, we start with the fundamentals of playing and caring for the instrument as well as the basic of reading music. As the student starts to get a firm grasp on the fundaments, we will begin moving towards the goals of the student. Those goals differ from student to student. It may be to be able to play in a community band, earn a first chair seat in your schools band, build a strong audition portfolio, or even just to be able to perfect a favorite song. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I start with Rubank's Elementary Method book. This will provide the student with the basic fundementals. I will then introduce the student to a variety of solo repertoire for his or her instrument. I try to make my lessons as fun as possible so the child grows up with music as a fun, artistic outlet. For students who already have knowledge on their instrument or who are adults, I aim to find what the student is interested in, and adjust my instruction accordingly. Read More

I have taught instrumental music in public schools for 5 years which has included teaching grades 5-12 in subjects such as beginning band, beginning orchestra, intermediate band, intermediate orchestra, marching band, percussion ensembles, and small group/individual instruction. I have been teaching private lessons in drums, piano, and concert band instruments for 10 years. I have been a performing member of rock bands, concert bands, orchestras, jazz bands, marching bands, choirs, and percussion ensembles, so I have a very diverse knowledge base which gives me the ability to adapt my instruction as a teacher to meet the needs of any student's goals and aspirations. The level of the student matters greatly to my approach. For younger students, I'll usually use their band music or band methods to supplement class work, as well as offering my own exercises to strengthen fundamentals. Older students often use the Rose, Uhl and Lester etude books. I use Avrahm Glaper's Scales and Arpeggios for my technical exercise or use exercises that I've come up with myself. Read More

Hi! My name is Robert, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with some hopeful and aspiring young musicians in the Denver area!!!! I am very passionate about music, which is likely why I was never able to just stick to one instrument when I was in band in high school. My principal instrument is trumpet, but I play all woodwind, brass, and percussive instruments, and I sing. Read More
