I like to engage the student fully in the process of learning, and as there are several different learning modalities, I feel it important to establish which style the student most identifies with. I love being able to send students on their way for the day knowing that they put their best foot forward. Even if they did not come to a lesson prepared, being able to see growth in the small amount of time I'm with them is enough for me. I understand that every student progresses at their own pace, so I work with them and their parents to make sure that realistic goals are set and written down to hold the student, parent, and myself to this growth plan. The more familiar the student is with the instrument the easier it is for them to be more confident in their performance. I encourage my students to perform in recitals and to compete as well as be apart of a band program as well. It is a great way to make wonderful friends.
