Instruments: Cello
I offer a traditional string class. It includes Essential Elements and Suzuki Books. I also have recommended materials for diverse and interesting cello studies. I like to work with children of all ages and I enjoy helping them develop new skills, especially in the area of music performance. Starting cello lessons at a young age I am well aware of what was required of teachers and instructors to get me to be the cellist I am today. Read More

In my teaching, I value being able to give students the tools they need to grow outside of lessons. In my own experience as a young cellist, I found that often students are only taught exactly what they need in order to play what is in front of them at the lesson that week, but not how to make that music better on their own. I stress the importance of sight-reading and a knowledge of music theory so that students are comfortable learning new music without relying on me. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello Double Bass Keyboard
My teaching style revolves around the interest of the student combined with my overall experience with one ultimate goal being that the student will develop the tools to teach themselves along the way. I like to use relevant recordings to play along with as well as simply recording the student and playing it back during the lesson. I will keep a written log of our progress and will have it available for the student as a reference as well as encouraging them to do the same. Read More

I started out at the age of nine playing the trumpet, and continued this for two years before switching to piano. Ultimately, I found my love in playing the guitar, and took lessons for two years. As time went on, I advanced as a guitarist and actually expanded into new musical instruments. I began playing in local rock and r&b bands at the age of 15. These were some of my most influential experiences, as they expanded my musical tastes into jazz fusion, swing, standards and Latin Jazz. After graduating high school, I attended community college and then went to New York to study jazz theory, where I played a few sets with Sweetback in 2000 that led up to being asked to play with the band. Beginner school-aged cellists: I start this group off in the Essential Elements book 1 to ensure that the student is getting the fundamentals or theory and technique. After the student feels comfortable playing with the bow, I add the Suzuki book 1 to the repertoire. After completing Essential Elements Book 1, I then like to introduce the Schroeder etudes in addition to continuing to work our way through all 8 books in the Suzuki series. Read More

From my experience, students vary greatly in musical background, personality, and needs, so I view each new student as a blank slate. My philosophy has always been to patiently build a solid foundation and not rush into advanced pieces at the risk of accumulating bad habits. At the same time, I recognize how important it is to keep learning fun, so I negotiate the balance accordingly. The material I use consists mainly of Suzuki and Rick Mooney's technique books, with other supplementary books and pieces depending on the student's needs. Read More

Music enables levels of communication and understanding between human beings that we don't come close to in the rest of our society and interactions. From my love for chamber music and recognition of music and art as an integral vocabulary for expanding global dialogue, understanding, and peace, I look for performance, creation, recording, and collaboration in classical, tango, contemporary, world, popular, and interdisciplinary artistic projects. Some of my teachers have included Peter Howard, Jorja Fleezanis, Atar Arad, Tanya Carey, and Sally Gross (choreographer). Read More
