I like to direct students to play scales and etudes with drones that can be found online or from an app. and can offer many more helpful practice techniques. My qualifications include my BA Degree in Cello Performance. I tutored other students in music theory, cello skills and technique as an undergraduate at Hampton University. I studied the violoncello at Levine Music school. I attended St. John DeMatha Catholic High School and Hampton University where I was principal in the Sinfonia Orchestra, Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras. I fell in love with the cello when I started in the Smithtown school district at age nine. At fifteen, I began my formal musical training at Mannes Prep Pre-College Division, studying with Dorothy Lawson of the ETHEL Quartet. I went on to achieve my Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance at Ithaca College, where I studied with Elizabeth Simkin. I'm a performer and educator motivated most by the flash of joy I see in students' faces when they first grasp a new musical concept. With a global perspective on music cultivated by my background performing Brazilian music and American Jazz since childhood, and further bolstered by a B.A. in Anthropology: Ethnomusicology from Ithaca College, I have been a full time touring musician for the last 10 years.
