While I am new to teaching, I am hoping to create a comfortable environment where students do not feel rushed to complete pieces or practices, and we will always move at the students pace. If a student is not yet ready to move on to the next piece, then we will continue polishing whatever they need before moving on. There are usually two reasons for taking private lessons. Either an individual has expressed an interest for the instrument or a parent wishes for their child to have a musical experience. Whichever the case may be, I see lessons as an opportunity to open a window into creativity and expression. Depending upon the age of the student, my approach is very different.
