I have been lucky to study with renowned teachers at top music schools while traveling to music festivals around the world to play with interesting musicians in a great variety of cultures and styles. For me, the the experience of music has no boundries between concert halls, teaching studios, street corners, galleries, or artistic genres. I am eager to share with my students the wealth of possibilities of sound, art, and collaboration on the cello while providing a solid physical mastery of the instrument which enables beginning to advanced students the opportunity and flexibility to take their music to varied genres and major music schools. As I have taught for many years, I feel encouraged and motivated when I can pass along my love for music. Nothing is more inspiring to me than to see someone's face light up when they pick up their instrument and learn. I set tailored goals for my students to reach every week, so that they have specific targets to reach. Positive reinforcement is the key to keeping a motivated student, and I encourage them in anyway possible making myself available to them throughout the week even after the lesson is over. Read More

I am all about the individualized approach! Whether the student is looking at their instrument for the very first time or they are a seasoned veteran performer looking to freshen their approach or hone one specific side of their craft, I'm here and thrilled to help. Everyone learns differently; I recognize some kids and adults alike find the idea of staring into a book and practicing rudiments or études for hours a day either intimidating, boring, or both. I am a recent conservatory graduate with a sincere love for both classical music and teaching. I spent much of my childhood and adolescence learning cello and piano, went into electrical engineering out of high school, and ended up somewhere in the middle studying audio engineering and cello performance. During my college years, I was given the opportunity to share my passion for cello with some children from my church, and after discovering how much I loved teaching music, I knew I had to enroll in some pedagogy classes. My teaching style is informed by trauma-informed care and a student-led philosophy. This means that I take into account the frustration that learning a new instrument can entail, and use therapeutic techniques to make sure my students are regulated during these moments of frustration. I provide structure and guidance for my students, but give them opportunities for free exploration, decision making, and leadership throughout a lesson. During lessons, I like to emphasize practice techniques and thinking outside the box when approaching difficult or new musical content. Read More

From there, I received a scholarship from Hampton University. While in attendance, I was the principal cellist. I graduated from Hampton University with a BA Degree in Music Performance with honors. Upon graduation, I returned to the DC Metropolitan Area and has since joined the DC Strings Orchestra. Read More
