I am a cellist currently living in NYC, and have am experienced in performing, recording, and teaching experience. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2014, where I received my Bachelor's degree in cello performance. There, I studied classical, rock, folk, and improvisation on the cello. I've had the opportunity to play in Boston's Symphony Hall, as well as many other venues in the city. In 2014, I recorded cello for the Documentary Watchers of the Sky, premeired in the Sundance Film Festival, and from July to October, I performed with the Anna Myer Dance Company in New York City and Boston.    From January- March 2016, I was the cello teacher for the Enriching Lives Through Music program in San Rafael, California. My teaching experience began when I took a course entitled String Pedagogy in college, where I was first introduced to the importance of an organized and effective pedagogical approach. Through that class, I was able to begin teaching private and group lessons to cellists in Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra's Intensive Community Program. I have varied experience relating teaching, whether it comes from teaching directly or other musical experiences. My earliest teaching experiences were mentorship programs in my local youth symphonies as a high schooler, and since then I've taught in afterschool programs, received my Suzuki Book 1 certification, and taught ear training in a classroom setting. Through my experience in teaching and chamber music, I really try to curtail expectations and goals to a student's individual wants from music making, so that students can feel proportionally challenged and confident to the amount of time they'd like to put in. I did my undergrad program at UMass Lowell and have achieved my Bachelors degree in Music Studies. I do not use any particular "methods" of teaching, although I did begin out on Suzuki. And while I do believe this is an important methodogy, Suzuki does have its flaws as do most of its kind. As I mentioned earlier, theory, harmony, and music history (as rudimentary as they may be at the beginning) are crucial for all students regardless of their level. With over 15 years of experience playing and performing cello, I have won many competitions in Atlanta, GA and performed as a soloist with Atlanta-based orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Georgia Philharmonic, and the Dekalb Symphony Orchestra. I've been teaching the cello and music to individuals and ensembles for ten years. During my undergraduate degree, I taught with the Virginia Tech String Project. From conducting, coaching sectionals, and helping students with technique during rehearsals, I gained many of the teaching methods and practices I keep today. I also co-taught string ensembles at the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute. In these camps, teachers and students together had a week to program, practice, and perform a concert.
