I am a lifelong student and teacher of music, and I love sharing what I've picked up over my many years of learning and performing. I have degrees from 4 institutions including The University of South Florida and The Boston Conservator, but my experiences in music extend beyond academic pursuits. I have performed classical music in Boston, Banff, Montreal, San Francisco, and Carnegie Hall, traveled to Germany to perform rock n roll, and recorded on soundtracks for movies and video games. I am friendly and incredibly patient with all my students. I believe that all students need proper encouragement and constructive critiquing during the learning process, so that is something I put a lot of emphasis on. At the same time, I set high standards for my students and expect them to carry themselves as professionals during practices. I normally demonstrate to the student by playing in both styles (my style of playing and the student's way of playing) to allow the students to make comparisons and decide which style of playing they prefer. I have been teaching private lessons for 12 years or so! I encourage students to take weekly lessons, practice daily and participate in competitions and recitals within school and outside of school! I also teach students of all ages. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I try to balance the needs of my students and work to strengthen their musical weaknesses for example working on Vibrato or bow distribution. Usually, I like to spend 10 minutes warming up both hands with long tones, scales, arpeggios, and other fun exercises. During the next 30 minutes, we tend to focus on fixing issues relating to the music such as rhythms or intonation issues.
