I believe that the cello can be a beneficial addition to anyones life, whether it is being played for recreation/therapy, to explore and enjoy great music, or to challenge oneself and build discipline through rigorous practice. I enjoy using a lot of body awareness cues to make music making comfortable for all. I have experiences with both feldenchrist and Alexander technique to approach cello in a holistic way that allows the music to flow naturally without physical boundaries. Physical gestures must match musical ideas but are usually the first thing that is overlooked when trying to approach a musical idea. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book.
