The most rewarding thing as a teacher is passing on my love of music to my students. Music is one of the most important things in my life and has opened me up to the world. Because of music I have met people from all walks of life and that has helped me to become a more loving and compassionate person. Lessons should be a safe, fun and encouraging space for students to grow not only as musicians but as people. Read More

I believe that each person has a unique set of skills and characteristics through which he or she acquires knowledge, maintains and improves the acquired knowledge, and uses it to his or her benefit. Therefore, although I do have a system that I follow, I attend to the specific strong and weak points of each student. My goal is to be present in each and every lesson and to focus on each student's current level with the understanding that only through direct and personal guidance could my students improve and thrive. I very much believe in a dialogue between student and teacher - the relationship is very much a two-way street, as we can both learn from one another in many ways. I dont have a dogmatic, one size fits all approach; rather, I adjust to each individual student and his or her own needs. I do believe in laying the groundwork through fundamental technical training, however I approach this in different ways with each student based on learning styles. Read More

For beginning students, i'll typically start with Suzuki books. It's important for students to learn the left and right hand separately before putting everything together. Once a student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I'll introduce some simpler solo repertoire appropriate for his or her skill level. For advanced, I'll be happy to talk about more advanced musical techniques and theories. I play the piano as well, and I will be happy to accompany my students playing repertoire that needs an accompanist. Read More

I am incredibly fortunate to have access to the resources at NYU and to love teaching music more and more every day: I have had practical experience in woodwind, brass, string, voice, and percussion pedagogy, as well as music in early childhood and for students of all abilities. My teachers include Jason Noble (instrumental conducting), Paul Speiser (choral conducting), Kim McCord (childhood/special ed music pedagogy), Ethan Hein (electronic music pedagogy), and Christopher Bush (clarinet performance). First of all, I always make my students enjoy music when they are learning anything from me. With beginners, I always be patient and kind, especially with young kids. Always singing songs with them, playing together with them and at the same time we will do some music games together. It helps young kids to get to know music and at the same time they won't get bored! Although sometimes they don't want to practice, it won't be a problem to me because we can always do other things like music theory, music introduction and singing when they are tired. Read More
