I am a recent conservatory graduate with a sincere love for both classical music and teaching. I spent much of my childhood and adolescence learning cello and piano, went into electrical engineering out of high school, and ended up somewhere in the middle studying audio engineering and cello performance. During my college years, I was given the opportunity to share my passion for cello with some children from my church, and after discovering how much I loved teaching music, I knew I had to enroll in some pedagogy classes. I base my teaching from the Suzuki Method and have all students play the repertoire and exercises found in those books. Not only does this give all students in the studio a common path, but allows for playing together in recitals. I also have many supplemental books to teach reading, sight reading, scales, shifting, position pieces, double stops, and bow technique when the student is at the appropriate level. I place a strong emphasis on listening skills and ear development and always have a listening assignment for the students as well. Read More
