At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels. I started teaching In the mid 80's when I was attending Berklee College of Music in Boston. I've been Consistently teaching since then. In 1994 I moved to NYC and had to start all over as I had to give up my Boston students. For a beginning student on guitar, I have them learning notes from a Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, or Alfred starter book. All these books are great, but I believe it depends on the individual student and how they learn. I also teach tab to beginners. I feel it is important to read tabs these days as well as notes.
