My teaching style is relatively simple. You tell me what you'd like to accomplish as a musician, and I will provide music, techniques, exercises, and theory to help you achieve what you want to achieve. I am also well acquainted with the so called 'practice block'. I have had the problem of disenchantment from the instrument MANY times, and have taught myself not how to push through it, but to find simple ways to get excited about music again. Read More

I'm a multi-faceted, multi-instrumental musician who loves to further his knowledge of the languages and forms of all music. In 2013 I earned an advanced degree from the Classical Music Conservatory "Bruno Maderna" in Cesena, Italy for the Double bass. I have collaborated as a musician and arranger in the studio with various Italian artists and songwriters, and have divided my time between playing live and in the studio as well as teaching bass guitar and double bass and composing original music. Musically, I have been involved in just about every activity you can think of! Although I spend the majority of my time on jazz piano, I have accompanied choirs, played baritone in marching bands, played guitar in rock bands, played bass in funk bands... I like to think that my wide array of experience allows me to cater to a variety of learning styles. In terms of education, I have been working in early childhood and music schools for more than 8 years, teaching children as young as 2 and as old as 20. Read More

I like to give my students small goals until I get to know them better. Early triumphs in learning a musical instrument tend to really help keep the attention of the new player. With beginning students, I like to teach in reference to the music the student wants to play. With Intermediate students, I like to have them explore new musical genres with similar concepts to what they are listening to or creating, in order to teach them to use the tools they already have more diversily. I have been sharing my knolwedge of music with others for as long as I can remember. It all ways feels good to know that you passed a bit of knowledge on to another human being. I began teaching private lessons part time about 4 years ago. In 2015 I began teaching at Larkin Street Youth Services, a drop in center for homeless youth in San Francisco. There we try not only to develop great musicians, but responsible hard working young people able to function and thrive in modern society. Read More

Throughout years of teaching I began making every lesson unique in a way that would benefit the student the most. The number one goal is for the student to have fun and learn at the same time. I was taught in a very rigorous fashion by high level teachers. I know what it means to look forward to coming to class. I love teaching because it lets me avoid the mistakes my teachers made in the past when it came my time to learn music. Read More

I always say that rhythm is more important than the notes. Play the right rhythm and the notes will come instead of playing every right note while sacrificing rhythm. I encourage students to make their mistakes loud, proud, and in rhythm so everyone has a better idea of what needs to be worked on most. I also emphasize isolating parts to practice and working backwards. Example: play the last two bars of the song until comfortable with it, now play the last 4 bars, last 6, last 8...etc., whole song.
