After graduating Whitman, I interned as a music teacher at the Spring Street International School in Friday Harbor, WA. I was mentored by a great teacher, Grisha Krivchenia and learned how to be a compassionate teacher. I helped teach composition, music theory,  small groups, bass and guitar. During the second half of the year, Grisha took a sabbatical and I  took over his duties. While in Friday Harbor, I also taught upright bass, electric bass and piano privately.  I currently lead a after school music club in Bellevue. I work with five to seven students helping them gain skills on their instruments (bass, guitar, piano, drums, vocals) and learn to play together in a group setting.

I enjoy helping my students discover their own individual learning style, and with this knowledge I am able to adjust my teaching method appropriately. In developing a passion for music, it is important to first determine the type of music you enjoy. Students naturally want to learn and play the music they love, so the genre of music that I teach depends on the student's preference.

I love to see my student's grow and achieve their goals.  I am excellent at catering to my student's needs to make a practical lesson plan to get from A to B.  MAny of my student's have not left since I have taken them on.  Some of them are in their 7th year of study.  I am very proud of that.

I have been playing guitar, bass, and drums since I was 15, and have had a passion for music since I can remember. In 2007, I earned my Associate of Arts from Musicians Institute Hollywood. I have had my music placed in popular television shows, such as “The Real World” and “Road Rules”, as well as the film “The Tested.” I currently play guitar in a project. We were featured as the musical guest on the popular late night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January 2014. We were also featured on the local television programs Art Zone with Nancy Guppy and New Day Northwest. We are also featured on YouTube as sponsored artists on EMGtv and Blue Microphones. I also have had the opportunity to share the stage with Crosby Stills and Nash, John Mayer, Don Felder, Brandi Carlile, Russell Ferrante, Travis Carlton, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

I teach for several different schools in the Seattle area in addition to Musika. I've taught mandolin to an elderly woman who wanted to sing German folk songs to her grandkids, I've taught piano and ukulele to kindergartners, I've helped teenagers write their own songs and perform them to peers, and I've helped dads in their thirties to relive the glory days of Shoegaze and Grunge. With all of these students, I've helped them love the subtle, intricate, surprising parts of music and how to not only play music, but have their life enriched by it and share that with others. In everything from reading music (both traditional methods and modern methods), ear-training, rhythmic drills, performance techniques, songwriting, and theory, I want you to get the very most out of our lessons.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
