I bean teaching after studying drums for four years with Kay Carlson. After years of teaching professionally I developed my own curriculum, based on Kay's lessons what I learned of the Mueller technique from Richard Wilson. My students have gone on to win performance awards, first chair positions other recording phenomenon. Reading drum music is of course my method of communicating with my students. This allows me to hand write individual exercises closer to the student's needs. Read More

I took guitar lessons, bass lessons, as well as piano lessons when I was a kid. I also interned at music studios and sat in on live audio gigs to learn that aspect as well. I have been playing for artists/bands live and in the studio (primarily on bass guitar) for almost 15 years now. From country, gospel, blues, to classic rock. Most of my experience teaching is with small children. Read More

Hello! I'm a professional, full-time musician. I studied music and performed through high school and college. Professionally I've been performing for over 30 years, and teaching music privately for over 15 years. I perform primarily in Arizona, but have performed elsewhere in the U.S., and in Mexico as well. As a teacher, my primary goal is to pass on love of music by helping you learn whichever instrument you choose. I'll help you learn ways to strengthen and enhance your skills, and even help you prepare for performance if you wish. Read More

I began playing electric bass at 14 and started a band at 15. We won 1st place in NMHS Battle of the Bands and at 16 we recorded out first album and had our first performance on the radio. By 17 with busier schedules and our drummer leaving the band fell apart and I began looking into ways of doing things solo. I invested into a loop station and got into Jazz and Classical music. I really began teaching when I became section leader in my high school marching band. I was in charge of teaching new music to my section. From that experience I leaned so much. After that I continued my education at Mesa Community College, where I studied music performance. While attending I studied privately and played in small combos. After I left MCC I went on tour with my rock band that eventually landed me in Los Angeles. Read More

Every student learns a different way and I always take the first lesson to evaluate what the student is passionate about. Some students want to get straight to playing songs and some want to learn sheet music first. I am comfortable with starting anyway they need. If the student starts to get bored after a few lessons I try and bring in new toys related to the instrument such as a new kind of cymbal or a slide guitar to try and spark some inspiration again! I write all my own lesson materials focusing on what the student needs to know to play, understand, and enjoy music to achieve their goals. I have used several method books in the past but find them all limited or focused on styles or technique that is not what the student wants or needs to learn. I can teach from any established method if that is preferred, but instead enjoy challenging the student to understand what music is and how music is played on their chosen instrument, not just to read.
